Mama Makeka House of Hope Center

BACKGROUND

Several years of dictatorship by Mobutu followed by more than 7 years of civil war left Congo without basic infrastructures upon which development activities can be coordinated. With the end of war and many international institutions desiring to invest
in the country, there still remains an issue of logistical capacity to welcome them. As Mama Makeka House of Hope continues it involvement in Congo, many people from North America and Europe want to participate in our programs and projects and want to
get directly involved with them. We are therefore faced the issue of lodging, communication, and transportation for all these volunteers who are participating in our different activities in the country. Currently all the decent hotels in Kinshasa are too
expensive and the few guest houses do not provide transportation and a variety of meals for the guests staying for more than just a couple of days. Communication is major problem for all of them. The Kinshasa Mama Makeka House of Hope Networking Center
is being developed with all these issues in mind.
